University professor, mineralogist, geologist, paleontologist, and teacher, son of F.A. Reuss (see further). He studied natural science and medicine at the university in Prague where he earned a Doctorate in Philosophy and Medicine. Then he worked as general practitioner in Bílina and, in his leisure time, carried out mineralogical, geological and paleontological studies mainly in the České středohoří Mountains, Styria, Tyrol, and Lombardy. In 1849, he was appointed professor of mineralogy at the Prague University where he taught geology, and at the Polytechnic College in Prague where he gave lectures on geology and paleontology. He also worked at the Czech Provincial Museum in Prague. In 1863, he was assigned to a post of full professor at the University of Vienna. He contributed significantly to the mineralogical, geological, and paleontological investigation of Bohemia, especially the Cretaceous and Tertiary formations. He devoted his studies mainly to paleontology of invertebrates, published a large number of papers in various periodicals. He also published numerous monographs such as 'Die Umgebungen von Teplitz und Bilin in Beziehung auf ihre geognostischen Verhältnisse', 'Die Kreidegebilde des Westlichen Böhmmens', 'Die Thermen von Teplitz', 'Die Versteinerungen der böhmischen Kreideformation', 'Kurze Übersicht der geognostischen Verhältnisse Böhmens', 'Geognostische Skizze der Umgebungen von Karlsbad, Marienbad und Franzensbad'.
