Frech, Fritz Daniel Dr.
University professor, German geologist, paleontologist, and teacher. He studied geology at the university in Berlin and, in 1885, he earned a Doctorate in philosophy (Ph.D.). In 1893, he was assigned to a post of professor of geology and paleontology at the Breslau University (now Wroclaw). The main fields of his scientific interest were geology and paleontology of Paleozoic and Mesozoic systems. He published a number of monographs, the most important being 'Die Korallenfauna des Trias', 'Devon - dyadische Korallen aus Süd - China', 'Lethaea palaeozoica', 'Geographische Verbreitung und Entwicklung des Cambrium', 'Abgrenzung und Benennung der geologischen Formationen', 'Die Dyas', 'Das marine Karbon in Ungarn', 'Schlesische Landeskunde' (with F. Kampersem), 'Die Steinkohlenformation', 'Über das rheinische Unterdevon und die Stellung des Hercyn', 'Über die nähere Alterbestimmung der Etage F,G, H Barrandes', and many others.
