Hungarian geologist and paleontologist. In the years 1861 -1867 he taught at commercial college in Budapest and in 1866 - 1869 he was custodian of the collections of the Hungarian National Museum. He belonged among the founders of the Royal Hungarian Geological Society in Budapest. Since 1868, he was head of the Hungarian Royal Geological Institute in Budapest. In 1868, he was appointed professor of paleontology at the University of Pest. His most important published papers include: 'Geologie des Graner Braunkohlengebietes' (1872), 'Fauna der Clavicula - Szabói - Schichten, Foraminiferen' (1881), 'Erdbeben von Agram' (1884), and others.
