Czech Geological Survey

The 13 CD-ROM contains a collection of geological maps at the scale of 1 : 25 000 presently owned by the Archive of the Czech Geological Survey (CGS). This collection represents 940 maps in two most important map grid systems - S-JTSK with the Krovak's projection and S-42 with the Gauss-Krüger's projection.

All printed maps are in the Krovak's projection. Because all the area is not covered by map sheets the vacant space was completed by drafted unprinted maps. The 13 CD-ROM was extended by a collection of drafted unprinted maps in the grid system of S-42 with the projection of Gauss-Krüger. These maps represent a previous stage of the geological mapping at the scale of 1 : 25 000.
Printed maps are supplemented with printed explanatory notes if they exist (total count 161 explanatory notes). There are some sporadic cases where explanatory notes are printed while maps are not available. In this case only explanatory notes are presented.
Unprinted maps in both projections include manuscriptive supplements (legend, geological section, stratigraphic column) in case the Archive possesses them.
The 13 CD-ROM contains additional bibliographic information about individual map sheets stored in the database of the CGS.

Description: several outputs

  • one-sided maps of larger formats including legend, startigraphic columns and geological section
  • mostly provisional two-sided maps, which introduce reproduced author originals
  • a collection of 12 sheets of black-and-white printed maps uncovered by indexes of geological units
  • a collection of 34 digitally printed maps which arose between 1999 and 2001 intra-project VaV/630/1/98
