Abstract

An isolated fragment of a fin spine is described from Stephanian C of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin (Bohemia). The well-preserved internal structure of the spine with a central cavity and trabecular dentine permits to assign this find to a new genus and species Turnovichthys magnus. Several dermal denticles, probably from the same animal as the fin spine; a tooth, probably of the genus Bohemiacanthus; and a scale of the actinopterygian fish Sphaerolepis kounoviensis, are adhering to the fin spine.
