Abstract

Recently, a thin layer of bituminous shale bearing small syncarid malacostracans at an outcrop of the Rudník Horizon (Krkonoše Piedmont Basin) has been discovered. Syncarids are identified as a new genus and species Monicaris rudnicensis gen. at sp. nov. of the family Palaeocarididae. Abundant, but not well-preserved carbonised bodies of schrimps give only a few useful anatomical information.
