The tectonic development of the eastern margin of the Bohemian Massif is discussed. The Moravicum of the Thaya Dome is described as a transitional zone between the Moldanubian Proterozoic and the Proterozoic of the Brunovistulicum. The Moldanubian Proterozoic was completely reworked during the Variscan orogeny, whereas in the Brunovistulian Proterozoic such Variscan overprint could not be observed.
