born 24th November 1858, Niederpfannenstiel near Aue (Saxony), died 18th August 1919, Freiberg (Saxony)

German researcher and geologist dealing with ore deposits. Between 1883 and 1885 he was geologist of the Saxon Provincial Geological Institute in Leipzig. During that time he compiled and published 15 geological maps at a scale of 1 : 25 000 with explanatory notes that covered mainly the Czech-Saxon border areas. He was involved in the exploration of tin deposits in the Krušné Hory Mountains and published a comprehensive paper on the Krupka tin deposit(1914). Since 1895 was a professor at the Mining Academy in Freiberg.
