Abstract
The hydrogeological zone classification defines suitable units for state water policy and for better determination and management of groundwater sources. The project 2005 updated the last version corresponding to modern knowledge, data processing technology, and present requirements of information systems of the public administration in agreement with Czech Water Law and the Groundwater Directive EU (2000/60/ES). Final resolution of the hydrogeological zone boundaries is limited due to used geographical data at a scale of l:50 000.
