Abstract

The uranium deposit Zálesí u Javorníka is located in the eastern part of the Orlice-Kladsko crystalline complex, northern section of the Bohemian Massif. Mining activity in this area lasted from 1958 to 1968. Uranyl tricarbonate liebigite Ca2[(UO2)(CO3)3] . 11H2O was discovered as a new secondary uranium mineral phase for this deposit. X-ray powder diffraction and SEM/EDX analytical techniques were used for identification. Calculated lattice parameters and determined chemical composition correspond to other published data for liebigite from other uranium deposits in the world.
