Abstract

Durring the year 2004 paleontological research was undertaken in the area of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin in East Bohemia (Rychnov nad Kněžnou district). The research was focused on analysis of fossil remains of traces of life created by invertebrates (ichnofossils). Literature search informed about six ichnotaxa. After this search field research began. 17 new ichnotaxa were found in the explored area of interest. Almost 90% of these ichnotaxa represent the first finds in the Cretaceous in East Bohemia. By means of detailed analysis of all localities it was possible to determine two ichnofacies from the trace fossil occurrence (Skolithos and Cruziana ichnofacies).
