Eocene corals from the locality near Jaseno, Borová Formation (Sub-Tatras Group)
Abstract
This work is focused particularly on taxonomie classification of corals of the order Scleractinia which are found on a locality near Jaseno village (Turčianska Basin). The corals are situated in blocks of organogenic-reef limestones appearing in th Borová Formation, in the Paleogene of Sub-Tatras Group (Central-Carpathian Paleogene). Based on results of the micro-facie analysis, I have classified these limestones as floatstones. The identified association of corals, preservation of these and concomitant association of organisms indicate probably patch-reef growths above the storm wave base.
