Abstract

Sedimentological investigation was carried out on three sections in the Lower Devonian of the Barrandian area. One of them (Homolka near Velká Chuchle) represents the international stratotype of the Lochkovian-Pragian boundary. Other two (Černá rokle near Kosoř, Cikánka near Praha-Slivenec) are their important auxiliary sections - parastratotypes. Part of the studied formation could be interpreted as turbidity current deposits, with distal development in the section Černá rokle near Kosoř and proximal development at Homolka near Velká Chuchle. The area of Cikánka near Praha-Slivenec section served as the source area of these turbidites. Our research proved the possibility of usage of microfacies analysis according to Wilson (1975) and Flügel (1982) concepts. Sequence stratigraphy could be applied description of the Lochkovian - Pragian boundary event. The observations described in this preliminary report will be disscused in detail in special papers.
