Cretaceous sediments in borehole V 800 Střeleč, their petrography, lithostratigraphy and chemostratigraphy
Abstract
In borehole V 800 drilled in the Northern part of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, lithology and petrography of the sandstones and mudstones of the Teplice Formation (Turonian and Coniacian) are described. There are three glauconitic key beds at the boundary between the Jizera and Teplice formations. Different interpretation of the key beds based on changes of lithology or chemostratigraphical markers causes difficulties with the recognition and correlation of the boundary. It is recomended to put the boundary at the lower glauconitic key bed which is more useful for geological mapping practice.
