New localities of mafic pyroclastics from the north margin of the Permian Levín Volcanic Field (Lower Rotliegend) of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin
Abstract
New localities of the pyroclastic deposits of Permian mafic monogenetic volcanism were observed in the northwestern to the northeastern margin of the Levin Volcanic Field within the Permian volcanosedimentary infill of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin. Prevailing outcropping pyroclastic rocks have mostly characters of phreatomagmatic and Strombolian eruptions, including transitional types. Occurrences of spatters suppose also locally small Hawaiian eruptions, indicators of possible vents located upon the tectonic faults.
