Abstract

During the exploration for radioactive mineral waters in the years 2012 and 2013 in Chrastava-Bogatynia area a cluster of water with increased radioactivity and salinity was found at Albrechtice near Frýdlant. Two major surface springs have the following characteristics: Spring "Soumar" has an activity of 1565 Bq/l 222Rn and TDS 1.5 g/l, flow rate 1.5 l/min, the molar type Na-Ca-Cl. Spring "Mother" has an activity of 2300 Bq/l 222Rn, TDS 0.6 g/l, flow rate 22 l/min, the water is a Na-Cl molar type. The location is settled and it is near Liberec-Frýdlant main road. We sought the origin of the chloride mineralization as a massive anthropogenic contamination. However, our research works was not confirmed this. It should be recognized that the mineralization may be of a natural origin. For a natural origin speak both quantitative and qualitative data (especially high activity of radium (226Ra). Similarly as in the case of many other sources of mineral waters, its origin is unclear. Water can be classified as sodium-chloride, radioactive, cold mineral water. In any case, there are mixed chloride-radon type mineral waters, which is new for the whole area of the Eger Rift.
