Abstract

This paper focuses on the possibility of using non-traditional raw materials, specifically bentonites and tuffitic clays, to eliminate impacts caused by leakage of water contaminated with various heavy metals. The prospective resources Buškovice 3, Chrášťany 6, Nepomyšl 4, Letov-Liběšovice and thus far undescribed bentonite occurrences in Hradiště-Bražec u Hradiště Military Testing Area were selected for a detailed study of qualitative parameters of the raw material. Field work focused primarily on sampling previously selected prospective deposit sites. Laboratory analyses of basic physical and chemical parameters of samples and special sorption tests (sorption of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ cations) were also carried out.
