Abstract

Geological mapping of Krkonoše-Jizera Crystalline Unit on the map sheet 03-233 Harrachov enabled a detailed study of petrographical and geophysical properties of phyllites. In spite of an relative simple protolith with a small number of rock forming minerals, these phyllites are very variable. Determining influence on the visual appearance and mineral assemblage has local composition of protolith and intensity of regional and contact metamorphism. Variability in mineral composition of phyllites results in variable values of magnetic susceptibility and contents of 40K, 238U, 232Th.
