Abstract

The Hronov Conglomerate of the Upper Carboniferous of the Intrasudetic Basin yielded a find of a quartzite pebble with a typical Skolithos ichnofabric. This find represents so far the strongest evidence for the source area of the conglomerates, as quartzites with Skolithos are widespread south and southwest from Hronov, e.g., in the area of the Železné hory Mts. Lithologic and stratigraphic equivalents of the Hronov Conglomerate in the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin show a similar composition of clasts; therefore, the same source area can be presumed for them.
