Micropaleontological research in the locality of Kaňk - Na Vrších near Kutná Hora

Abstract

The micropaleontological study of the Upper Cretaceous nearshore sediments in the locality Kaňk - Na Vrších corroborates the different age of Cretaceous nearshore sediments. On the basis of foraminiferal and nannofossils studies the age of the lower part of organodetritic limestones and matrix of conglomerates is determined as Late Cenomanian - base of Early Turonian (presence of foraminifera Pseudotextulariella cretosa and nannoplankton Prediscosphaera cretacea). The age of overlying calcareous marlstones is clearly Early Turonian.
