Abstract

In the framework of geological mapping at 1:25 000 scale, lithology, sedimentology and stratigraphy of the Rača Unit on the map sheet 34-222 Vracov were studied. On the surface the Beloveža Formation, and the Luhačovice and Újezd Beds of the Zlín Formation were recognized. Poor assemblages of exclusively agglutinated foraminifera did not enable precise biostratigraphy. In the Újezd Formation a 3 cm thick horizon of chalk-like limestone with nannofossils of ?Upper Eocene was found. Tectonic structure of the area is determined by two systems of faults perpendicular each to other which results in a mosaic-like arrangement of partially autonomous blocks.
