Abstract

The eastern margin of the Drahanská vrchovina Highland is intensively water-depleted and existing erosion valleys have an important drainage role for the fissured aquifers of the hydrogeological massif of Lower Carboniferous greywackes, siltstones and shales of the Myslejovice, Rozstání and Protivanov Formations. The regional groundwater flow is concentrated to the east, to the porous Neogene aquifers of the Carpathian Foredeep. Some of the erosion valleys are filled with Neogene sediments, too. However their pelitic character and lower thickness do not create essential conditions for the occurrence of the important aquifers.
