Abstract

Paleontological analysis of green-grey sandstones from Měnín-1 borehole enables to assign them to the Lower Cambrian. Until recently, several authors have considered these sandstones to be basal siliciclastics sediments of Devonian age since they are overlain by Devonian carbonates. He sandstones from the Měnín-1 borehole are subdivided into the lower "feldspar-bearing" layer and the upper, structurally more mature layer containing predominantly monocrystalline quartz grains. It is probable that petrographically similar sediments of Lower Cambrian age occur also in Borotice HV-604 borehole situated south of Znojmo.
