Abstract

Magnetic susceptibility was measured in site using kappameter KT-5 in the vicinity of Nový Malín and Libina during geological mapping. After verifying magnetic anomalies, magnetic metatonalites, phyllonites, metaaplites, amphibolites, mica schists and chloritoid-bearing rocks were sampled and magnetic properties were measured in the lab of the AGICO Ltd. Magnetite, oxidized to maghemite in places, is the main carrier of magnetization. The irregular growth of the magnetite in both Devonian and Pre-Devonian rocks may indicate the important role of the late tectonometamorphic Variscan processes, connected with the high activity of fluids, which run under conditions of the decrease of the metamorphic intensity from the amphibolite to the greenschist facies.
