Vattenfall AB, Sweden / Vattenfall Poland


The companies within the Vattenfall Group generate and supply power and energy solutions in Sweden, Finland, Germany and Poland. The main products are electricity and heat where 203 TWh of electricity and 35 TWh of heat were sold in 2003. The electricity generation was 156 TWh, of which 45 per cent were thermal, 36 per cent was nuclear and 18 per cent was hydropower. The installed production electricity capacity is: Nordic countries, 15000 MW, Germany 15700 MW and 928 MW in Poland. The heat production capacity is: Nordic countries 3100 MW, Germany 7448 MW and in Poland 4800 MW. Vattenfall has its own research and development resources, with 150 employees and up-to date laboratories for research and tests.

Roles in the GeoCapacity project: Vattenfall AB will take part as legally responsible for the work in the project. The main contribution to the project will come from Vattenfall Poland/ Elektrocieploni Warszawskich S.A. (EW), which are Vattenfall’s heat and electricity operating companies in Poland.
