Tirscher, Jozef Arthur born 23rd March, 1843 Spišská Nová Ves, Mining expert. After completing secondary school in Prešov in 1862, he graduated from the Mining and Forestry Academy in Banská Štiavnica. He worked at mines in Banská Štiavnica, Kremnica and Vyhne. For a short period of time he worked as mining and metallurgy expert in Krompachy. Since 1872 till his retirement in 1909, he was employed at the Mining Office in Vindšachta near Banská Štiavnica. Since 1890, he was at the Mining Geodesy Dept. in the same town. He compiled numerous mining maps of which the best known is collection of 28 lithographic mining maps depicting Banská Štiavnica - Piarga (Štiavnické Baně)-Štefultova, published in 1885. His published papers dealt with surveying methods which were applied in the Dědičná štola (drainage adit) Ferdinand in Kremnica.
