Peithner, Jan Tadeáš Prof. Dr. Ritter von Lichtenfels
Mining expert, officer of the Royal Bohemian Mint. He studied at the Prague University, where he earned a Doctorate in Law. He was interested mainly in mining. In 1750, he joined the Royal Mint. He became professor of mining at the Prague University and, between 1772 and 1776, worked at the Mining and Forestry Academy in Banská Štiavnica. He is the author of papers on mining law and mining methods. One of his best known works is 'Versuch über die natürlichen und mährischen Bergwerke', published in 1770. He dedicated this monograph to Empress Maria Teresia and was promoted to knighthood with the title „of Lichtenfels“.
