Permian actinopterygian fishes and their use to correlate outcrops of the significant fossiliferous horizons of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin
Abstract
More detailed and comprehensive study of actinopterygians is now furnishing the posibility of using at least some of them to correlations outcrops of the significant Permian fossiliferous horizons of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin (Bohemian Massif). The families Amblypteridae Romer, 1945 and Aeduellidae Romer, 1945 are examples which are being used in biostratigraphy. Paramblypterus rohani (Heckel, 1861), and other species of the genus Paramblypterus from the family Amblypteridae, and Aeduella and Neslovicella elongata Štamberg, 2010 from the family Aeduellidae are prominent in this respect. Correlations of several localities of the Rudník Member (Vrchlabí Formation) and Kalná Lake (Prosecné Formation) are based on the occurrence of different species of actinopterygians.
