Abstract

The correlation of the mean radon concentrations in waters in wells and the geological bedrock was made in the southern part of the Czech Republic highly affected by radon. After the ArcGis interconnection of the database of coordinates of wells with the geological maps we have compared the values of radon concentrations measured in wells with the soil gas radon concentrations. The results show the relationship of the radon concentrations in wells and the type of the bedrock. The values of radon concentrations in wells rise with the increasing soil gas radon concentrations. This dependence supports the possibility of using the geological maps to more accurate determination of the zones with the elevated radon concentrations in waters.
