Abstract
Coniacian quartzose sandstones of the Březno Formation build a prominent crest with the ruin of the Milštejn Castle, ca. 5 km N of Cvikov. The sandstones host irregular quartzite bodies. which were found to contain specific ore mineralization with pyrite, sphalerite, anatase and a U-Zr-Ti phase. This mineralization is older than the silicification process and parallels Cenomanian occurrences reported from the Stráž and Tlustec blocks of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin.
