Abstract

The Polyteichus horizon (after the Bryozoan Polyteichus novaki) is locally developed in the upper part of the Bohdalec Formation (Upper Berounian). The so-called Polyteichus facies (characterized by subordinate intercalations of clayey/silty limestone, siltstone and sandstone) occupies the middle to upper part of the Bohdalec Formation. The "Polyteichus facies", rich in benthic fauna, is more or less confined to the territory of Prague. Its distribution testifies to a shoal extending across the Prague basin. The latter is due to diastrophic movements in the Late Berounian.
