Abstract

Mesozoic marine sedimentary rocks represented by Cretaceous Rohatec beds and the Jizera and Teplice Formations form the bedrock of the entire map sheet 13-113 Sojovice. They crop out mostly in the northern part of the map. In the remaining part the Mesozoic is overlain by Quaternary sediments. Fluvial terraces of the Jizera and Labe rivers preserved at different altitudes are most important. They are stratigraphically classified into Lower, Middle and Upper Pleistocene. The wind-blown sand and loess are of minor extent. Besides the Holocene fluvial and organic sediments are developed and some anthropogenic deposits of limited extent occur.
