Abstract

Foraminifers of Cretaceous Oceanic Red Beds (CORB) from various tectonic units of the Rumanian Flysch Carpathians were studied from stratigraphic and paleoenvironmental point of view. Total range of the CORB in studied sections comprises the Lower Cenomanian-Maastrichtian. Six benthic foraminifer assemblages were distinguished within the CORB: 1. uRhizammina"-dominated, 2. Nothia-dominated, 3. "Rhizammina"-dominated with Krasheninnikov fauna, 4. Recurvoides-Karrerulina- Uvigerinammina, 5. Mixed of Wadowice type, 6. Mixed of" couches rouges" type. The assemblages represent individual biofacies from distal abyssal to middle slope.
