Abstract

During November and December 2004, the author participated in activities of the team of Czech naturalists preparing the exhibition of Socotra nature. He collected representative rock samples of the Quaternary, Tertiary and Mesozoic sedimentary cover (conglomerates, breccias, marls and mainly limestones) as well as of the supposed Paleozoic to Precambrian basement (peralkaline granites and their dykes, gabbros, volcanics of the rhyolite - andesite association, metamudstones, amphibolites and orthogneisses). The rock set, together with a geological map, a cross section, with typical minerals and microphotos, is installed among far prevailing biological objects in the main island's settlement Hadibo.
