Abstract

The amphibolites form relatively abundant intercalations and irregular lenses in the metapelites of the Varied Group of the Moldanubian Zone. According to their modal compositions pyroxene-bearing and/or pyroxene-garnet bearing amphibolites are the most abundant. These amphibolites are probably a metamorphic equivalent of tholeiitic volcanics.
