Palynologically evidenced Cenomanian age in Kouřim area
Abstract
Based on the palynological content of the samples from the borehole H1 Molitorov near Kouřim, the mid-Cenomanian age is evidenced by the presence of angiosperm pollen Brenneripollis peroreticulatus, Tricolpopollenites parvulus, Perucipollis minutus. Pteridophyte spores, represented predominantly by the genera Gleicheniidites, Vadaszisporites, Plicatella, and Laevigatosporites are the most abundant miospores. Microscopic remains of resin have been recovered from black-grey claystone together with other plant debris. The resin is in association with conifers (Pinaceae, Taxodiaceae, Cupressaceae). Depositional environment is most probably fluvio-lacustrine (the absence of true marine elements, dinocysts and acritarchs), only rare specimens of green algae assigned to division Prasinophyta (Leiosphaeridia sp., Tasmanites sp.) can indicate the proximity of the sea.
