Abstract

New geological survey focused on structural phenomena together with new geophysical measurements focused on deep intrusions have been performed in the area of the Volcanic Centre of the České středohoří Mts. A computerized model of the centre was created down to the level of the crystalline basement based on results of detailed tectonic studies. It was combined with the results of the geophysical survey which detected a huge intrusive body. The evaluation of the dyke swarm in the area of the centre showed a relationship to the tectonic setting rather than the supposed diapiric effect. Newly identified tectonic style (employment of strike-slip tectonics and block structure) does not correspond with the older idea of development of the centre at the intersection of supposed prominent tectonic structures. Results of this complex study provided new knowledge about the setting of the centre situated between crystalline basement and former surface and defined structural phenomena important for the development of the centre.
