Abstract

Geophysical survey (gravity, magnetics) in the southern surroundings of Abertamy in the Krušné Hory/Erzgebirge has revealed the extent of mafie intrusion within the Late Variscan granites of the Karlovy Vary pluton. The mafie intrusion is indicated by several small outcrops of gabbrodiorites in this area. Based on the results of geophysical measurements, the intrusion spreads in SW-NE direction. Its southwestern and southeastern subsurface contacts with the granites were located. On the opposite sides of geophysical profiles (NW and NE) near the contact of granites with Proterozoic mica schists, termination of the mafie intrusion was not found. The intrusion either continues beyond the area of study, or physical properties of gabbrodiorites and mica schists are so similar that their contact is not visible in the measured physical fields.
