Abstract

The Upper Ordovician (Uppermost Berounian) strata in Prague (Barrandian area, Czech Republic) yielded a new ichnoassemblage, dominated by Nereites missouriensis, Asteriacites lumbricalis and traces attributable to trilobites. The Uppermost Berounian is represented in the Barrandian area mostly by grey clayey shales having a poor ichnoassemblage (Chondrites, Palaeophycus, Planolites, Tomaculum). However, the coarser-grained Polyteichus Facies, being mostly interpreted as the effect of intrabasinal rising zones, has several distinctive ichnoassemblage traces of variable density and diversity. Understanding them might help to decipher the still questionable tectonic constraints of the Polyteichus Facies.
