Abstract

A unique fake of a Late Cretaceous fish Hoplopteryx is described here. It was made in the first third of the 20th century according to a published line-drawing of a real specimen. The alleged fish find is mentioned by Soukup (1934, p. 114) as Hoplopteryx zippei (AGASSIZ). The specimen is the hitherto first known falsification of a fossil from the Bohemian Cretaceous.
