Abstract

Scanning electron microscopy of 22 species of Paleozoic (Upper Cambrian-Pennsylvanian) conulariids revealed that one and as many as four species of eleven genera exhibit microscopic thecal pores similar to those documented by Kozlowski (1968) in Conularia sp. (Ordovician, Poland) and by Bischoff (1978) in ?Garraconularia sp. (Lower Silurian, New South Wales). Microscopic pores occur on the representatives of following genera: Archaeoconularia BOUČEK, Climacoconus SINCLAIR, Conulariella BOUČEK, Conularina SINCLAIR, Ctenoconularia SINCLAIR, Eoconularia SINCLAIR, Glyptoconularia SINCLAIR, Metaconularia FOERSTE, Paraconularia SINCLAIR, and Pseudoconularia BOUČEK.
