Abstract

In 2001, the cooperation between the Czech Republic (Ministry of Environment) and Zambia (Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development) continued in the Kafubu area, southwest of Ndola town. The project comprising research and evaluation of emerald mineralization at Kafubu, Ndola Rural area, has been commenced on the request of the Zambian ministry of Mines and Minerals Development. Emerald production contributes significantly to Zambia's economy; during last years, it reaches up to 8 per cent of the total GDP. The evaluation of lithological, structural and geochemical features of present mineralization is very important for an assessment of the area potential and planning of further government activities.
