Abstract

To the south-west of Kolín there occur small serpentinite bodies with content of pyrope. In the 18th and in the beginning of the 19th century, pyrope was extracted from weathering parts of the serpentinite and from alluvial sediments. In this locality pyrope is accompanied by several other heavy minerals predominantly by almandine, magnetite, rutile, tourmaline and others.
