Abstract

New Geological map Lausitz-Jizera-Karkonosze (without Cenozoic sedments) has been published. The map with Comments has been produced by cooperation of the Geological Survey of Germany (Saxony), Poland and the Czech Republic. The map covering 20 000 km2 is situated near the borders of these three countries. The area of the map is built up geologically mainly by several units of Luigicum. They are sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks of Neoproterozoic to Carboniferous age and rare covered by platform sediments of Permian to Cretaceous ages. Tertiary volcanics are the youngest rocks in the map.
