Abstract

Permian on the sheet map Rovensko pod Troskami belongs to the western part of the Krkonoše Piedmont Basin. Just the upper units of the Upper-Paleozoic sequence i.e. Vrchlabí (the uppermost part only). Prosecné and Chotěvice formations of the Asselian to Upper Sakmarian age crop out to the surface. Most of the sediments are of the Red Beds type except few layers of grey to green-grey mudstone and claystone with lacustrine limestone interbeds. The most important well defined key-horizon is the Horní Kalná-Horizon of bituminous limestone and marlstone with fossil plant and animal remains and chert-nod-ules. Dip of the strata is mild (usually not more that 10° SW), except of the flexure drag undermining the course of the basal plane of the transgressive Cenomanian sediments, where the dips increased up to 60° SW.
