Abstract

The geophysical research was applied for tracing of poorly exposed Cenozoic basanite dykes in the area of the Libuň valley. The geometry of several bodies was established based on measurements of magnetic field. Some of these dykes are of normal magnetic polarity, some have reverse magnetic polarity and we also observed bodies with complex setting comprising domains of normal and domains of reverse magnetic polarity. The magnetic research discovered prominent 1100m long basanite dyke at Újezd pod Troskami. Combination of magnetic and gravity survey was also applied to research of rounded depression at Semínova Lhota. Maar volcano origin of this depression was excluded with respect to the obtained data.
