Abstract

The Cretaceous ferruginous sandstones and conglomerates were used as the building material for quader masonry of the Judita bridge, built in 12th century in Prague. According to the lithological comparison of the preserved bridge relics with the Cretaceous deposits in the Prague territory and its surroundings the original localities of these rocks were determined. The ferruginous sandstones and conglomerates occurred mainly as free blocks in the plateaus in SW surroundings of romanesque Prague.
