Abstract

The influence of geological basement on the soil gas and indoor radon concentrations measured on inhomogeneous Quaternary sediments was examined along rivers in the Czech Republic. The main condition for the river selection was the heterogeneous geological basement with different radon index. We have made two profiles of soil gas radon measurements along the rivers. The results of soil gas radon measurements were than compared with the accessible indoor data. The results proved high effect of the geological basement on the indoor radon concentrations measured on the Quaternary sediments. The results showed also the minimal differences between the mean indoor radon concentrations in buildings situated on the Quaternary sediments and radon in buildings in the entire municipal territory.
