Cambrian near Slapnický mlýn and Jezírka localities and new occurrence of Cambrian sediments eastward from Mlečice village
Abstract
Geological mapping on the sheet Podmokly has sup- plemented the knowledge on some classical localities in Skry- je-Týřovice Cambrian (Slapnický mlýn, Jezírka and Mlečice) by new findings. At the locality of Slapnický mlýn two new tectonically affected outcrops of Mileč Conglomerate are described at the left-hand side of the Zbirožský potok valley. These two outcrops are tectonically separated from the occurence of Mileč conglomerates in the gorge above the Slapnice camp. Above this camp the conglomerates already show its correct, tectonically unaffected position and NE-SW course. Coarse siliceous conglomerates, developed in the upper part of Mileč Conglomerate in this area, probably correspond to the former rocky coast facie. At the locality of Jezírka, about 250 metres from the waterfall, the lamprophyre intrusion, formerly considered to be a tectonic fault, is newly described. The vein has an E-W course and is significantly altered (calcified). East of Mlecice village, in a deeply cut gorge, a new occurrence of Cambrian sediments (shales and siltstones) is described. The Cambrian is exposed there at the bottom of a narrow stream, in a section about 500-700 metres eastwards from the center of Mlecice village. It is probably a tectonically restricted segment of sediments inside andesites of the Krivoklat-Rokycany Volcanic Complex. On earlier maps this occurrence has never been reported.
