Abstract

During the mapping of geohazards mainly landslides, on the territory of the Džbán Nature Park some interesting phenomena in the Cretaceous sediments, such as diagenetic cavities and biogenic structures, were recognized. The actual state of abandoned clay pits and stone quarries was documented as well. In the precretaceous relief the palaeovalleys up to 30 m deep were recorded, filled during Cenomanian sedimentation partly with material from Carboniferous subarkoses. According to the petrologic investigations so called opukas consist mainly of spiculitic, silicified marlstones passing into pure silicites.
